The Vice-Chancellor
The Office of The Vice-Chancellor at Joseph Ayo Babalola University is occupied by Professor O.A. Fakolujo whose appointment was ratified by The Council of Joseph Ayo Babalola University.
Engineer Professor Fakolujo is a Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan. He earned a BSc degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering with first-class honours, in July 1980, from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife where he had the best result in his competitive graduating class. He was a university scholar throughout his undergraduate programme. He was awarded the Federal Government of Nigeria Scholarship in 1982 to undertake postgraduate studies at the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London. He obtained his doctorate (PhD) from the prestigious University of London and the Diploma of Membership from the Imperial College (DIC) in 1988.
With over 70 published articles in reputable journals and conferences (locally and internationally), Engineer Professor Fakolujo has taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has supervised and graduated several MSc and PhD students, including the first PhD graduate of his department at the University of Ibadan. His research interests include Electronic Circuit Design, Microelectronics, Computer and Microprocessor-based System Design, Signal Processing, Biometrics and Design of Security Systems.
The revered scholar, at various times, between December 1, 1992, and January 31, 2010, served as the Acting Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the University of Ibadan for a cumulative period of thirteen years and three months. This is a department he led at various times to obtain full accreditation of the undergraduate programme from the National University Commission (NUC) and the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He was the Dean of the Faculty of Technology at the University of Ibadan from 1 August 2019 to 30 September 2022. It is important to note that Professor Fakolujo’s career as an academic has been devoted to excellence and a wealth of experience gained from years of involvement in high-level research and administration spanning three decades and four years.
Professor Fakolujo is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (FNIEEE) and a Corporate Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE). He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (SMIEEE) New York Inc., and a COREN Registered Engineer (REngr). He was past Chairman and is currently a Patron, of NIEEE, Ibadan Chapter. He has participated in some capacity development training and curriculum development in several universities. He has served as a resource person for both NUC and COREN accreditation exercises, at many universities.
Engineer (Professor) Fakolujo was ordained an Elder of the Church at Christ Apostolic Church, Agbokojo, Ibadan on 27 May 2001 and was made the church Secretary on the day of his ordination. This is a position he has occupied to date. He was for several years a member of the General Executive Council of Christ Apostolic Church (Nigeria and Overseas). He was appointed a member of the Governing Council of Christ Apostolic Church Theological Seminary, Ile-Ife on 24 January 2019 and served actively for three years. He was appointed the Chairman of the Research and Development Committee of the Church at the inauguration of the various committees of the General Executive Council on 23 August 2022, for five years.
Engineer Professor Fakolujo is a devout Christian and happily married with children.
